Some things seem to move quite slowly when running a business and can be frustrating; other tasks materialise in the blink of an eye. We have been close friends of the John O’Groats Trail for a while now. This is the amazing walk from John O’Groats to Inverness along some of the most spectacular coastline in the world. It seems only a short time ago that we thought about how cool it would be to have a fitting start/finish point for the walk at Groats. Then, no sooner had we sketched a design for an archway for this, then it seemed that the arch was constructed, installed, painted and getting a first airing on Good Morning Britain. Non other than Andi Peters (a great childhood hero and superb assistant to Ed the Duck back in the day), was there and taking his first steps along this brilliant walk.
Great to meet him, and although 06:00am was a little early for him to be supping on a beer, he was still great craic – think he was more used to the early starts than we were!
I’m pretty convinced he wasn’t going to do the whole trail. But, for those that are interested, it will take most of us mere mortals around 2 weeks to complete the whole trail although I dare say there are superhumans out there who can prove that it can be done in shorter timeframes. Challenge set? I haven’t walked the whole route, but have done several sections and I can say whatever sections you do you will have a great time with majestic scenery including wonderful cliff sections, sea arches and amazing historic archeological structures. And best, you’ll have earned yourself a beer or two at the end of it at John O’Groats.
