Great beers that are brewed AND bottled in John O’Groats
Since starting out we have used our friends at Cairngorm brewery to help bottle our beers. Every drop of John O’Groats beer was always brewed in the village here, but we would send it off to Cairngorm to be bottled. This involved a bit of a faff. We had to ensure our beer production tied in with availability of their bottling plant. Every brew would have to be transferred into 1000 litre containers. And we would have to organise transportation to move the beer around 150 miles to Aviemore. We would then have to get it transported back once it had been bottled. As you can imagine, this was a lot of time and expense and meant we weren’t always in control of when we could get the bottled beer back.
Many of you will testify to this if you came to the shop last year. I am sure some of you found we were running a little low on some stocks of our own beers. We had lots of excuses for this, but one factor was bottling plant availability.
This was not ideal for all kinds of reasons. To remedy the issue, we have invested in our own bottling plant this year. Its taken a good bit of work from the team to get it all up and running but this season should be the first year we can claim that our beer is brewed and bottled in John O’Groats.

So why not head to the online store and select some of our beers to try. We will get them shipped straight over to you and you can revel in the self satisfaction that the beer has not many air miles on it. It has travelled just a few miles from the Highland loch the liquor is extracted from to the brewery, where it is brewed and bottled within the heart of John O’Groats. I mean, if you live in Southampton, its going to clock a few miles during delivery to your doorstep, but we can’t control everything.
